LONDON — Wimbledon has made history with a staggering attendance of 550,151 over the course of its two-week Grand Slam event, marking a slight increase from the previous year, as announced by the All England Club on Tuesday.
This year’s 139th edition of the prestigious grass-court tournament benefitted from the first completely rain-free Championships since 2019, bringing in 1,381 more attendees compared to 2025.
Despite this achievement, Wimbledon still falls behind in overall attendance figures compared to the other three Grand Slam tournaments.
The Australian Open’s main draw attracted over 1.1 million spectators, while last year’s U.S. Open welcomed upwards of 900,000 fans, and the main draw for the 2026 French Open saw a turnout of 589,500.
Unlike the other three tournaments, which host main-draw competition over 15 days, Wimbledon maintains a 14-day schedule. Additionally, the rival events hold qualifying tournaments on-site a week prior, helping them engage more fans and generate increased revenue. Wimbledon’s qualifying rounds are held off-site.
This year, the All England Club set daily attendance records on Days 7 and 12, as well as on Day 14, when Jannik Sinner triumphed over Alexander Zverev in the men’s final. The day before, Linda Noskova claimed victory against Karolina Muchova in an all-Czech women’s final.
