Is Lorenzo Musetti’s ambition to qualify for his first Nitto ATP Finals in jeopardy? With Felix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud, and Daniil Medvedev hot on his heels, the competition is fierce.

All three competitors clinched ATP 250 titles this past Sunday, tightening the race as the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin heads into the final stretch. With Jack Draper sidelined for the rest of the season due to injury, Auger-Aliassime (ninth), Ruud (11th), and Medvedev (12th) are intensifying the competition against Musetti, who stands firmly in eighth place and is being closely watched by Alex de Minaur in seventh.

Musetti has openly stated that qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals is a primary goal for him this season, particularly since the prestigious event will be held in Italy. However, it’s worth noting that this would be his inaugural appearance, unlike his rivals who have once walked the courts at the season finale.

Just three years ago, Auger-Aliassime made a late surge to secure his spot, while Ruud boasts three prior qualifications. Medvedev, the former champion, is on track to secure his seventh consecutive qualification.

After winning his sixth ATP Tour title on indoor courts in Brussels, Auger-Aliassime has narrowed the gap with Musetti to just 330 points. Returning to the ATP 500 event in Basel, he looks to close in further, a setting where he’s previously thrived.

Ruud, having recently captured the Stockholm trophy, is now focused on making his mark in Basel as he trails Musetti by 740 points.

Initially entering the Rolex Shanghai Masters at 20th in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, Medvedev climbed to 13th after winning the Almaty Open. With opportunities ahead in Vienna and Paris—two tournaments where he’s previously won—he’s aiming to gain even more points.

It All Adds Up

Musetti, alongside Ben Shelton in sixth place, is eager to make his debut at the year-end championships. Meanwhile, seasoned veterans like Alexander Zverev (4th), Taylor Fritz (5th), and Alex de Minaur (7th) continue their pursuit to secure their places in Turin.

De Minaur, who made his Nitto ATP Finals debut last year, holds a slender margin of just 60 points over Musetti as he aims to return to the iconic Inalpi Arena.

Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic have already secured their spots at the Nitto ATP Finals, with Sinner as the defending champion and Alcaraz chasing his first title at the event. Djokovic, a record seven-time champion, is also in the mix.
