PARIS — In an exciting announcement on Monday, three-time Grand Slam titleholder Stan Wawrinka and his fellow retiring star Gael Monfils have been awarded wild cards for the upcoming French Open.

At 41, Wawrinka, who triumphed at Roland Garros in 2015, currently holds the No. 125 ranking. Meanwhile, 39-year-old Monfils, who made a memorable semifinal run in Paris back in 2008, finds himself ranked No. 222.

The French Open organizers have also granted wild cards to several promising talents in the men’s draw, including Nishesh Basavareddy, Titouan Droguet, Hugo Gaston, Arthur Gea, Moise Kouame, and Adam Walton.
