Victoria Mboko’s journey at the Toray Pan Pacific Open concluded on Friday as she was edged out by Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, with a score of 6-3, 7-6(4) in the quarterfinals.

The promising Canadian teen showcased her skills by securing an impressive 83.3 percent of her first-serve points during the one-hour and 31-minute contest, allowing only one break point from three opportunities.

As the tournament’s second seed, Rybakina unleashed five aces, propelling her into the semifinals of this WTA 500 hard court event.

This quarterfinal clash marked a rematch, following Mboko’s earlier victory over Rybakina in the semifinal of the National Bank Open in Montreal.

The 19-year-old from Toronto triumphed in that tournament as a wild-card participant.

Rybakina also knocked out Canada’s Leylah Fernandez from the Pan Pacific Open, defeating her 6-4, 6-3 in a second-round matchup on Thursday.
