Victoria Mboko from Canada has successfully made her way to the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Open, defeating Alexandra Eala from the Philippines with a thrilling score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday.
The talented third-seed Mboko showcased her powerful game, firing off eight aces and breaking Eala’s serve five times, while also securing an impressive 67 percent of points on her first serve.
At just 19 years old and hailing from Toronto, she is set to clash next with the sixth-seeded Anna Kalinskaya from Russia.
Mboko isn’t alone in her success; fellow Canadian Leylah Fernandez has also reached the final eight.
Fernandez, the tournament’s second seed, triumphed in her match on Wednesday, winning handily against Germany’s Eva Lys with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
She is now gearing up to face the seventh-seeded Sorana Cirstea from Romania.
