This year is shaping up to be remarkable for Victoria Mboko!

The talented 18-year-old from Canada has reached a significant career milestone, triumphing over Colombia’s Camila Osorio with a score of 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 during the Miami Open on Wednesday. This victory marks her inaugural WTA1000 main draw win, propelling her into the second round.

With this latest success, Mboko boasts an impressive 28-1 record this season, and her career tally now stands at 97-39. She is enjoying a personal best, currently ranked No. 162 in the WTA world rankings, a remarkable leap from No. 350 at the close of 2024.

This year, Mboko has already secured five titles on the second-tier ITF Women’s World Tour. Notably, in February, she set a new ITF record for consecutive match victories in the main draw by a Canadian woman, achieving an astounding 20 wins, surpassing Rebecca Marino’s previous record of 18.

Hailing from Toronto, Mboko is poised to make her debut in the Billie Jean King Cup for Canada, with qualifiers against Romania and Japan scheduled for April 11 and 13 in Tokyo.
