Homegrown talent Alexander Zverev leads a stellar lineup of Top-10 athletes at the 2026 Bitpanda Hamburg Open, scheduled from May 17 to 23.
Currently ranked No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings, Zverev is on the hunt for his second crown at this esteemed clay ATP 500, having marked a historic victory in 2023 as the first German men’s singles champion in three decades. Competing alongside him will be fellow Top-10 stars No. 5 Felix Auger-Aliassime, No. 6 Ben Shelton, and No. 9 Lorenzo Musetti, all eager to leave their mark.
Felix Auger-Aliassime made it to the semi-finals in Hamburg last year, while American newcomer Shelton arrives with freshly minted experience as an ATP 500 champion on clay, having recently won the BMW Open by Bitpanda in Munich.
Defending champion Lorenzo Musetti, who triumphed over Carlos Alcaraz to capture the title in 2022, will join Zverev and 2025 champion Flavio Cobolli as the roster’s previous winners.
As in 2025, this year’s Hamburg tournament takes place just before the crème de la crème of the ATP Tour head to Roland Garros, looking for Grand Slam glory. Other notable athletes vying for clay-court success in northern Germany include Top-20 players Jiri Lehecka, Karen Khachanov, Valentin Vacherot, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, and Francisco Cerundolo.
Additionally, two former Top-10 competitors, Holger Rune and Jack Draper, are eager to shake off recent injuries. Rune is gearing up for his comeback after a six-month hiatus due to an Achilles injury, while Draper is aiming to bounce back from a knee issue that sidelined him from the ATP Masters 1000 events in Madrid and Rome.
Brazilian Joao Fonseca, who recently reached the quarter-finals in Munich, is set to make his Hamburg debut. German talents Jan-Lennard Struff and #NextGenATP star Justin Engel will also look to make their mark alongside Zverev.
The entry list was revealed in a groundbreaking press conference, featuring mesmerizing visuals of the tournament, with the roster showcased on towering 10-meter walls surrounding an immersive museum room.
This year’s event promises an expanded fan zone and an exclusive VIP area—the Players Sky Lounge—where spectators can enjoy privileged views of the matches while mingling close to the athletes.
