Iga Swiatek has experienced a challenging spring season, failing to secure any titles on her favored surface as she heads into Roland-Garros for the first time since 2020 without a trophy.
The former World No. 1 is poised to slip out of the Top-2 for the first time in 165 weeks, since March 21, 2022, when the new rankings are announced on Monday. She is expected to drop to at least No. 4 and could fall to No. 5, pending Jasmine Paolini’s performance in Rome next week.
This shift poses a risk for Swiatek’s seeding in Paris, where she might encounter Aryna Sabalenka as early as the semifinals, or even the quarterfinals, should she end up at No. 5.

Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula are anticipated to be ranked at No. 2 and No. 3, in no particular order, come next week.
Throughout the last 165 weeks in the Top 2, Swiatek has dominated as No. 1 for 125 weeks, but she has been trailing Aryna Sabalenka since the conclusion of the previous year’s US Open.
While it’s certainly a setback for Swiatek, who clinched her first Grand Slam title at Roland-Garros unseeded and as the No. 54 player in the world, it highlights her recent on-court challenges.
“It hasn’t been easy at all,” she reflected after her defeat to Danielle Collins (6-1, 7-5), noting her 21-3 record at Foro Italico. “Clearly, there’s something I need to improve. I plan to regroup and make some adjustments based on my team’s advice.”
When asked if she feels differently upon arriving in Paris, where she boasts a remarkable 35-2 record with four titles, she replied:
“Every year brings its own challenges, so whatever circumstances I find myself in don’t really affect me.”
