Stefano Vukov will continue to face indefinite provisional suspension.
Breaking News: Rybakina Navigates Uncertainty as Vukov’s Suspension Holds Firm
In a statement released on Tuesday, the WTA Tour confirmed that its thorough investigation into a “potential breach of the WTA Code” has concluded, leading to the determination that the former coach of Elena Rybakina will remain ineligible to coach on tour.
“The WTA has completed its investigation regarding Stefano Vukov and affirms that his suspension ‘remains in effect’,” read a statement from the WTA, which was echoed by tennis journalist Reem Abulleil on X.

Given the sensitive nature of the case, the WTA has opted not to release additional information to maintain confidentiality. The statement continued, “Following this thorough review, the suspension will persist. To uphold the integrity of the investigation and its results, we will refrain from disclosing further details. Our commitment to handling all matters fairly and objectively in line with the WTA Code of Conduct stands firm.”
For those not privy to the developments, Vukov was provisionally suspended by the WTA in January amid Rybakina’s efforts to reinstate him to her team. This decision was unexpected, given that she had been coached by the esteemed Goran Ivanisevic after parting ways with Vukov in 2024.
Vukov’s provisional suspension restricts him from attending WTA-sanctioned events.
Rybakina and Vukov ended their collaboration last August after five successful years that included a Wimbledon title, although there were murmurs regarding the coach’s treatment of the player. Rybakina has strongly denied such allegations.
No updates yet from Rybakina, who is currently competing in Doha. She progressed with a decisive 6-2, 6-4 victory over Peyton Stearns and is set to face Rebecca Sramkova in the upcoming round of 16.
