Meet Peyton Stearns, a rising star who recently faced adversity due to a health scare. Despite a rough patch with her health, she showcased her fighting spirit by defeating tough competitors like Dayana Yastremska, Ons Jabeur, and Zheng Qinwen in Doha and Dubai.
Now, ranked 43rd, Stearns has uncovered the source of her struggles: an E. Coli infection.
“The past three weeks have been a challenging journey…constant stomach pains, fatigue, and frequent bathroom trips with an unclear diagnosis,” the 23-year-old athlete shared on social media. “After numerous tests, I learned E. coli was to blame. It’s been incredibly frustrating not knowing the issue, but now that I have clarity, my focus is on recovery.”
