In a thrilling encounter at the Moselle Open, Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego triumphed over compatriot and friend Flavio Cobolli, moving on to his fourth tour-level quarter-final of the season.
In their inaugural Lexus ATP Head2Head clash, Sonego clinched the decisive break in a tense 11th game of the third set, ultimately securing a hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Despite Cobolli’s impressive 31 wins in 2025 and recent titles in Bucharest and Hamburg, he’ll have to delay his quest for a Top 20 finish in the PIF ATP Rankings as he exits early from the ATP 250 event.
Fondly recalling his 2022 triumph in Metz, the 30-year-old Sonego is set to face either Hugo Gaston or Daniel Altmaier in the quarter-finals, having just notched his second Top 30 victory of the season.

Riding high from a title at an ATP Challenger event, #NextGenATP rising star Alexander Blockx marked his second tour-level victory of the year. The 20-year-old Belgian overcame Italian qualifier Francesco Passaro with scores of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in his opening match.
Currently sitting fourth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah, Blockx is gearing up for the Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF next month. His powerful serving against Passaro saw him deliver 16 aces and save eight of the nine break points he faced. He has now climbed two spots to No. 100 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings and will be up against Frenchman Clement Tabur next.
Australian Aleksandar Vukic displayed resilience, saving two match points to outlast Corentin Moutet, winning 3-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(8). Vukic now leads their Lexus ATP Head2Head series 2-0 and is set to clash with Matteo Berrettini in the second round.
French lucky loser Kyrian Jacquet and Daniel Altmaier also progressed in the ATP 250 event. Jacquet triumphed over Luca Van Assche 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Altmaier defeated Shanghai finalist Arthur Rinderknech 6-4, 6-4.
