The clash for the Nitto ATP Finals title saw Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz become part of Italian television history.

A remarkable 6.7 million tuned in via traditional TV, while the grand total—including digital platforms—soared to 7.008 million. Sinner emerged victorious with a scoreline of 7-6(4), 7-5, successfully defending his title in Turin and setting a new record, surpassing the previous 6.6 million peak during his 2023 final against Novak Djokovic.

This record-breaking audience not only highlights Sinner’s rise as a national sports hero but also signals a booming interest in tennis across Italy, fueled by the emergence of stars like Lorenzo Musetti, Flavio Cobolli, and Luciano Darderi.

Sunday’s final added another thrilling chapter to the burgeoning rivalry between Alcaraz and Sinner, the top contenders in the PIF ATP Rankings. Their sixth encounter of the year saw them face off exclusively in finals, including three major championships.

Sinner, despite trailing Alcaraz 6-10 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series, extended his remarkable indoor winning streak to 31 matches, as reported by the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. His last defeat in this setting was against Djokovic, during what was previously the highest-viewed tennis match in Italy.
