NEW YORK — Jannik Sinner showcased his dominance on Monday night, decisively overcoming Alexander Bublik— the sole player who has defeated him this season—with a stunning score of 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, securing his place in the U.S. Open quarterfinals.

The top-seeded Sinner’s performance lasted just 1 hour and 21 minutes, marking it as the second-quickest match in the tournament, narrowly trailing Tomas Machac’s first-round victory by a minute.

While Sinner faced defeat against Bublik in June during a grass-court warm-up in Halle, Germany, attempting to beat the defending U.S. Open champion on a hard court presents an entirely different challenge—one that has proven nearly insurmountable lately.

Sinner has now triumphed in 25 consecutive Grand Slam matches on hard courts, boasting victories that include the last two Australian Open titles and his inaugural U.S. Open trophy from the previous year.

Next up for Sinner is a clash with fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No. 10 seed, on Wednesday. The day’s other quarterfinal will feature No. 8 Alex de Minaur taking on No. 25 Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Bublik, seeded No. 23 and hailing from Kazakhstan, had been riding a wave of momentum with the ATP Tour’s longest active winning streak of 11 matches and three titles, trailing only Alcaraz’s six this year.

Despite entering the match with an unblemished record of winning all 55 service games, Sinner managed to break him an impressive eight times.

Bublik could only chuckle at times, including during the post-match handshake when he remarked to Sinner, “I’m not bad.”

However, Sinner’s performance made the match look lopsided, as he led 86-46 in points won, while Bublik struggled with 13 double faults.

Sinner’s record now stands at an impressive 35-4 this season. His only defeats came at the hands of Alcaraz in the French Open final and also in Rome and Cincinnati, where an illness forced Sinner to retire during the first set.
