Ben Shelton is set to miss the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships due to an injury, as officially announced by the tournament on Friday.
The No. 6 player in the PIF ATP Rankings experienced a shoulder injury during his third-round face-off against Adrian Mannarino at the US Open, leading him to retire before the fifth set commenced. He has not returned to the court since then.

From his debut at the ATP 500 event in Tokyo two years ago, Shelton claimed his first ATP Tour title. Last year, he made a memorable return, reaching the quarter-finals but narrowly losing in a final-set tie-break to eventual champion Arthur Fils.
With an impressive 37-18 record this season, the 22-year-old is currently positioned fifth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, striving for his first qualification to the Nitto ATP Finals.
