Denis Shapovalov stands just one match away from achieving back-to-back titles at the Los Cabos Open!
The talented tennis player from Richmond Hill, Ontario, triumphed over Britain’s Cameron Norrie with a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in a thrilling semifinal showdown that lasted two hours and 39 minutes.
At the Cabo Sports Complex, the 27-year-old Shapovalov is set to clash with France’s Arthur Gea in the final on Saturday, following Gea’s victory against Coleman Wong from Hong Kong, where he won 7-6 (7), 6-3 in the other semifinal.
After a swift win in the opening set against Norrie, the match evolved into a captivating battle. Shapovalov recorded an impressive nine aces, alongside three double faults and 62 unforced errors. Norrie countered with one ace, six double faults, and 54 unforced errors. Throughout the match, Shapovalov converted three of his eight break points, while Norrie managed to convert two out of eleven.
Last year, Shapovalov claimed the championship by defeating American Aleksandar Kovacevic with a score of 6-4, 6-2 in the final.
