Canada’s Denis Shapovalov narrowly missed the chance to vie for an ATP title.

The talented player from Richmond Hill, Ontario, was defeated 6-3, 6-4 by Norway’s Casper Ruud in the semifinal round of the Stockholm Open on Saturday.

Ranked third in the tournament, Shapovalov delivered six aces but struggled with four double faults, managing to convert just one of his five break-point opportunities.

On the other hand, Ruud, the second seed, recorded two aces against one double fault and successfully converted three out of six break-point chances.

Ruud will now compete against France’s Ugo Humbert in the final scheduled for Sunday.

Humbert advanced after receiving a walkover from the top-seeded Holger Rune of Denmark, who sustained an injury in the second set.
