In a thrilling match at the Moselle Open, Ukrainian lucky loser Vitaliy Sachko delivered a remarkable performance, toppling World No. 13 Alexander Bublik with a score of 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, marking his debut in an ATP Tour quarter-final.
The 28-year-old showcased remarkable resilience, not facing a single break point in the deciding set. According to Infosys ATP Stats, Sachko seized the opportunity in the pivotal 12th game, clinching victory after two hours and nine minutes of electrifying play in Metz. His victory effectively dashed Bublik’s aspirations of finishing the year within the Top 10 rankings.
With this win, Sachko ascends 36 places to No. 186 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, becoming the first Ukrainian to reach a tour-level quarter-final since Sergiy Stakhovsky in Marseille, 2019.

In another standout match, Learner Tien triumphed over Tunisian lucky loser Moez Echargui with a score of 7-6(3), 6-3, marking his sixth tour-level quarter-final appearance of the season.
The #NextGenATP American has had a stellar year, reaching his first ATP Tour final in Beijing last month and advancing to the fourth round at ATP Masters 1000 events in Toronto and Shanghai. Currently ranked No. 37 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, Tien is set to face Matteo Berrettini, who overcame Aleksandar Vukic 7-6(5), 6-3, reaching his fifth quarter-final of the season—each on hard courts.
Unfortunately for Alexander Blockx, he couldn’t join his fellow #NextGenATP talent in the quarter-finals. French qualifier Clement Tabur edged him out with a nail-biting score of 6-7(4), 7-6(6), 7-6(6), saving a match point in the second set. Blockx earned his spot in the ATP 250 as part of the Next Gen Accelerator initiative for players aged 20 and under. Tabur will now take on Sachko in the quarter-finals.
Daniel Altmaier also moved forward after Hugo Gaston had to retire at the end of the second set. Gaston took the first set 6-4, but Altmaier stormed back, winning the second set 6-0. He will next face Lorenzo Sonego in the quarter-finals.
Lucky loser Kyrian Jacquet claimed victory in his first ATP Tour quarter-final, defeating Dan Added 6-0, 6-2. He’s set to meet Cameron Norrie next.
