Casper Ruud, currently ranked World No. 6, is among the notable players who signed a recent letter directed to the four Grand Slam tournaments, joining fellow members from the ATP and WTA’s top 20.

This weekend at UTS in Nimes, France, the Norwegian star passionately discussed the letter’s primary objective: advocating for a better revenue-sharing model for players at major tournaments.

“As players, we deserve a fair share,” Ruud expressed to AFP. “When you look at other major sports like the NFL, MLB, or NBA, their revenue-sharing numbers are approaching 50%. While I don’t expect us to reach that, any movement in that direction would be beneficial,” he highlighted.

Ruud raised concerns about a lack of clarity regarding the Grand Slams’ operating expenses, which leaves players unaware of actual profit margins.

“I believe the public isn’t fully informed about how Grand Slams distribute their revenue and where their funds come from,” he stated.

The Norwegian also underscored the players’ frustration over a lack of dialogue regarding significant decisions, such as the recent switch to 15-day events at Roland-Garros and the US Open.

“Many decisions seem to be made without consulting us, and it’s time for us to voice our opinions and demand discussions on various matters,” Ruud declared.

As per AFP sources, the FFT has acknowledged the letter and has proposed a meeting with the players at either Madrid or Roland-Garros to delve into these concerns further. “We have suggested an open and constructive dialogue starting at the Madrid Open (April 22-May 4), at Roland Garros (May 25-June 8), or another suitable time,” the FFT representative mentioned.
