INDIAN WELLS, California — In a thrilling showdown, twelfth-seeded Holger Rune triumphed over fifth-seeded Daniil Medvedev with a score of 7-6, 6-4 on Saturday, securing his spot in the final of the prestigious BNP Paribas Open.
Rune is set to clash with the victor of the second semifinal, featuring two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed, and 13th-seeded Jack Draper.
The 21-year-old Danish star, Rune, boasts an impressive collection of four ATP Tour titles, with his most significant achievement coming at the 2022 ATP Masters 1000 in Paris.
On the other hand, Medvedev has claimed 20 ATP Tour titles, with his most recent victory occurring in 2023. The 29-year-old Russian previously faced Alcaraz in last year’s Indian Wells final.
