NEW YORK — Roger Federer is set to grace the stage of the US Open this year, making a triumphant return to the Grand Slam tournament where he holds the unique distinction of winning five consecutive titles.

On August 25, just days before his induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Federer will take part in an exhibition match in New York. This special event, dubbed “Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York,” will also feature tennis legends Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, and Andre Agassi, as announced by the U.S. Tennis Association.

Roddick claimed the US Open title in 2003, just a year before Federer began his remarkable reign, clinching the title every year from 2004 to 2008 as part of his impressive 20 Grand Slam singles championships.

Federer’s last appearance at the US Open was in 2019.

“New York has given me countless unforgettable memories, and Arthur Ashe Stadium holds a special place in my heart,” he expressed in a statement. “I’ve truly missed being part of that vibrancy and experiencing the incredible energy that the fans bring each year.”

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set for August 29 in Newport, Rhode Island.

The USTA will reveal additional details about the event lineup in the days leading up to the tournament’s singles play commencing.
