Two-time Rolex Shanghai Masters champion Roger Federer graced the centre court once again, participating in an electrifying exhibition match where he partnered with actor Donnie Yen to take on actor Wu Lei and former WTA star Zheng Jie.

In an exciting showdown that featured three thrilling tie-breaks, Federer and Yen secured a stunning comeback victory with scores of 5-7, 10-8, 7-1.

Despite initial nerves, the Chinese actors impressed Federer, who commented, “It shows that you care. I think you did remarkably well. Thank you for being here; I could see how much fun you were having.”

The Swiss maestro also applauded Yen and Wu for their diligence in preparation: “I want to commend the hard work you both put into getting ready for this match. While Zheng and I have our experience, the passion you showcased during practice is commendable. I hope you carry that spirit beyond today.” He emphasized the role of sports in everyday life, stating, “I’m delighted we could share this experience at Qizhong Stadium.”

Federer had previously appeared in an exhibition match last year in Shanghai, teaming up with acclaimed singer and actor Eason Chan to challenge ATP’s Zhang Zhizhen and table tennis champion Fan Zhendong.
