“I’m feeling great. Life’s been exceptionally kind to me lately. I can’t ask for much more.”
This is how Rafael Nadal encapsulated his experience in Madrid this week after enjoying a playful practice session at the Santiago Bernabeu, which was temporarily transformed into a tennis facility for the Mutua Madrid Open.
“Spending quality time with my family and friends during such a historic moment is truly special,” Nadal expressed to the tournament. “I’m optimistic the tournament will be a tremendous success in the coming weeks.”
Nadal last played in Madrid in 2024, reaching the fourth round. The 39-year-old legend boasts a remarkable five titles at this ATP Masters 1000 event, first claiming the trophy in 2005 when the competition was held on hard courts.
With a stellar 59-15 record at this event, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, Nadal mingled with No. 1 ranked player Jannik Sinner as well as football stars Thibaut Courtois and Jude Bellingham during their engaging practice session at the Bernabeu.
