Fresh off her championship win at the Charleston Open earlier this month, Pegula required a mere 59 minutes to notch her decisive win against her Polish rival at this prestigious indoor clay-court event.
Next up for the American star is a highly anticipated showdown against Ekaterina Alexandrova, a rematch from their recent Charleston semifinal. Alexandrova punched her ticket to the quarterfinals by defeating sixth-seeded Mirra Andreeva with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
In another impressive performance, fourth-seeded Coco Gauff also triumphed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, sending Ella Seidel packing in just 57 minutes. Gauff is set to clash with fifth-seeded Jasmine Paolini, who advanced after a hard-fought match, winning 6-1, 7-5 against Jule Niemeier.
