MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — In an exciting turn of events, Jasmine Paolini has secured her spot in the semifinals of the Miami Open for the very first time!

The sixth-seed athlete showcased her talent by overpowering Poland’s unseeded Magda Linette with a commanding score of 6-3, 6-2 on Tuesday, making her the inaugural woman to reach the tournament’s final four this year.

Notably, Paolini has etched her name in history as the first Italian woman to advance to the Miami Open semifinals. Previously, Italian women have made it to the quarterfinals on six occasions, with the most recent being Martina Trevisan in 2023.

Next up for Paolini is a thrilling clash against the top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka, who triumphed over ninth-seed Qinwen Zheng of China with a score of 6-2, 7-5 in their quarterfinal showdown on Tuesday night. This match occurred after several hours of delays due to rain.

The remaining quarterfinal matchups on the women’s side are set for Wednesday, featuring fourth-seed Jessica Pegula from the U.S. going head-to-head with Britain’s Emma Raducanu, alongside second-seed Iga Swiatek facing off against Alexandra Eala of the Philippines.
