Naomi Osaka showcased her skills with a solid victory over hard-hitting Liudmila Samsonova in Miami, triumphing with a score of 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the third round.
The former champion needed 82 minutes to boost her season record to 8-3.
Although Osaka had opportunities to finish the match earlier, she missed a break point while Samsonova served at 2-5 in the second set and was unable to close it out at 5-3. Nevertheless, she broke her opponent in the final game to set up a thrilling third-round encounter with American Hailey Baptiste.
