Rafael Nadal has reached out to Carlos Alcaraz, who announced his withdrawal from both Roland Garros and Rome due to a wrist injury sustained recently.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion took to social media on Friday, expressing: “Stay strong, Carlos! Wishing you a quick recovery. These trying times truly show how much your efforts mean to us all. Keep your chin up—sending you a warm hug! 💪🏼”
Alcaraz, the reigning champion at Roland Garros for two consecutive years, faced his injury during the opening round at the ATP 500 event in Barcelona. Earlier in the year, he achieved the remarkable feat of completing a Career Grand Slam at the Australian Open.
Nadal, who holds a historic 14 titles in Paris, marked his final appearance at this prestigious clay-court tournament in 2024.
Jannik Sinner, the current No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, also expressed his sentiments about Alcaraz’s situation following his opening victory in Madrid.
“What matters most is that tennis thrives with Carlos involved,” Sinner commented after hearing the news. “The sport shines much brighter when he’s in the game.”
