MADRID — Rafael Nadal has issued a strong warning regarding fraudulent online videos that portray him offering financial advice, highlighting the dangers posed by artificial intelligence.

The legendary retired tennis star clarified on Tuesday that he has never supported any of these misleading videos or their content.

“I feel compelled to share this important message — something you don’t typically see from me on social media, but it is vital,” he expressed on LinkedIn. “Recently, my team and I have come across deceptive videos circulating on various platforms. These clips, crafted using artificial intelligence, mimic my image and voice. In these instances, I am wrongly credited with investment advice or proposals that are absolutely not from me.”

Nadal described this as “misleading advertising, completely disconnected” from his persona.

He emphasized the need for society to develop skills to differentiate between reality and manipulation, urging for “an ethical and responsible approach to technology.”

“Innovation is inherently beneficial when it aids humanity, but we must remain vigilant against its pitfalls and approach it with critical thinking,” he continued. “Artificial intelligence presents a powerful tool, with the potential to drive remarkable advances in education, healthcare, sports, and communication. Nevertheless, it can also be exploited to produce deceptive content that causes confusion and misleads many.”
