MIAMI — In a thrilling showdown at the Miami Open, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti triumphed over Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in an exhilarating three-set match, advancing to the next round.
Auger-Aliassime, seeded 18th and hailing from Montreal, started strong, breaking Musetti to seize the first set with a score of 6-4. However, Musetti, the 15th seed, demonstrated his resilience by storming back to claim the next two sets at 6-2 and 6-3.
Despite Auger-Aliassime firing off an impressive 11 aces during the match, he also struggled with four double faults. Musetti capitalized on the opportunities with four break points—double that of his opponent—with only one double fault himself.
Looking ahead, 27th seed Denis Shapovalov from Richmond Hill, Ontario, is set to take on the third-seeded American Taylor Fritz in an exciting third-round clash on Monday.
