LONDON — French tennis sensation Corentin Moutet has landed himself a hefty $40,000 fine for unsportsmanlike behavior, following a colorful post-match interview at Queen’s Club earlier this week, as announced by the men’s tennis tour on Friday.

During an on-court chat after his first-round victory on Tuesday against fellow countryman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard at the ATP 500 grass-court showdown in London—a crucial lead-up to Wimbledon—Moutet managed to unleash a string of profanities, repeating one expletive seven times.

Despite being cautioned by the interviewer to refrain from inappropriate language, Moutet doubled down, throwing in three more expletives before wrapping up the interview with yet another bout of bad language.

The ATP promptly issued a statement: “The player has received a fine of $40,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct.” Moutet has indicated his intention to appeal this fine, in line with ATP regulations.

Wimbledon kicks off on June 29.

The 27-year-old Moutet, currently ranked No. 36 and still in pursuit of his maiden ATP title, is no stranger to heated altercations. He previously had a fiery exchange with Alexander Bublik last year after a Challenger event in Phoenix, prompting the chair umpire to intervene.
