Daniil Medvedev turned the Dubai changeover into an intense battlefield.
After a rollercoaster of emotions, Medvedev saw four match points evaporate and lost a nail-biting second-set tiebreak 7-6(7) to Tallon Griekspoor.
What followed was a heated exchange with chair umpire Adel Nour.
Update: Medvedev fell to Griekspoor with a final score of 2-6, 7-6(7), 7-5, and notably, he did not end the match with a handshake for Nour.

The umpire, in response to Medvedev’s outburst, issued a code violation, which only fueled the already stirred player.
“What did I even say?” Medvedev exclaimed as he rose from his chair. “Is there a double standard for Russians?”
The argument between Medvedev and the umpire reached a boiling point at the end of the set.

Despite his frustrations, chair umpire Nour remained resolute. Medvedev ultimately chose to step off the court briefly, taking a bathroom break before returning to commence the decisive set in this tumultuous edition of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
