In a fierce second-round showdown at the Citi Open, Canada’s Victoria Mboko fell short against Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina, losing 6-3, 7-5 on Wednesday.

Despite showcasing her serve with three aces, the 18-year-old from Toronto struggled with nine double faults throughout the intense 1-hour and 25-minute match.

Mboko capitalized on two out of three break point opportunities, demonstrating her potential on the court.

Leading 5-4 in the second set, Mboko aimed to push the match into a decisive third set but ultimately lost the final three games.
