In an exciting announcement, Tennis Canada revealed that Rebecca Marino, Marina Stakusic, Carson Branstine, and Kayla Cross have each received main draw wild cards for the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.

These four talented Canadians will join forces with Leylah Fernandez, Bianca Andreescu, Victoria Mboko, and Genie Bouchard in the prestigious main draw.

This year marks a remarkable milestone, as eight Canadian athletes will be competing in Montreal, setting a new record for the tournament.

“We are elated to announce that a historic total of eight Canadian women will feature in this year’s main draw,” expressed tournament director Valérie Tétreault in a statement. “Tennis enthusiasts can expect an unforgettable event, where seasoned players like Eugenie Bouchard and Rebecca Marino will shine alongside dynamic newcomers such as Victoria (Mboko), Marina (Stakusic), Carson (Branstine), and Kayla (Cross). Our tournament has frequently been a backdrop for spectacular performances from Canadian athletes, fueled by the unwavering support of our passionate crowd. A week to remember lies ahead!”

Marino is set to make her sixth appearance at the National Bank Open, having reached the Round of 16 in 2021. Recently, she showcased her skills by competing in the finals of the Ilkley Open in Great Britain, ultimately finishing as the runner-up against American Iva Jović.

After recovering from an injury sustained at the French Open in Roland-Garros, Stakusic is excited to make her return to competitive play.

The 131st edition of the National Bank Open will unfold at IGA Stadium in Montreal from July 27 to August 7.

Meanwhile, the men’s event, now in its 143rd year, will be held at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto from July 27 to August 7.
