Exciting news for tennis fans! Canadians Rebecca Marino, Katherine Sebov, and Cadence Brace have been awarded main-draw wild cards for the highly anticipated 2026 National Bank Open, as announced by Tennis Canada on Wednesday.
They will join the ranks of previously announced wild card recipients, including the legendary American player Venus Williams, along with fellow Canadians Bianca Andreescu and Kayla Cross. Stay tuned, as two more wild cards will be revealed ahead of the tournament!
Vancouver’s own Marino is set to compete in her sixth consecutive Canadian Open, with her standout achievement being a remarkable run to the round of 16 in Montreal back in 2021.
Brace is gearing up for her main-draw debut at the event, while Sebov returns for her second outing, having faced a first-round exit in 2022.
The doubles entry list has also been unveiled, showcasing the impressive team of Wimbledon finalists Gabriela Dabrowski from Ottawa and Brazil’s Luisa Stefani.
In a surprising twist, top-ranked doubles player Katerina Siniakova from Czechia will join forces with China’s Shuai Zhang, stepping in for her usual partner, Taylor Townsend of the United States.
Additional noteworthy doubles pairings include the American duo of Coco Gauff and McCartney Kessler, along with Belgium’s Elise Mertens teaming up with Russia’s Diana Shnaider.
