Mensik Makes History: First Player to Qualify for Next Gen ATP Finals Presented by PIF
The Czech sensation clinched a Masters 1000 title in Miami
Date: November 26, 2025
In a remarkable achievement, Jakub Mensik has secured his spot in the Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF for the second consecutive year.
“I’m incredibly thrilled to qualify for the Next Gen ATP Finals again,” Mensik expressed. “This year has been phenomenal for me, especially winning my first ATP title at the Masters 1000 in Miami. Ending the year ranked among the Top 20 makes it even more special. I can’t wait to see you all in Jeddah this December!”
Earlier this season, the 20-year-old made headlines by defeating Novak Djokovic in the Miami final, becoming the second-youngest champion in the tournament’s history—just behind Carlos Alcaraz. At only 19, he becomes one of just five teenagers to triumph over Djokovic on the ATP Tour.
His stellar performance this year propelled him to a career-high No. 16 in the PIF ATP Rankings as of August. Mensik notched four Top 10 victories in 2025, including wins against Jack Draper, Taylor Fritz, and Djokovic in Miami, along with a third-round elimination of Casper Ruud at the Australian Open.
Mensik also made a splash with a quarter-final finish in Madrid and reached the fourth round in Rome. His impressive season includes quarter-final appearances in Brisbane, Auckland, Eastbourne, and Beijing.
In a bit of unfortunate news, last year’s champion Joao Fonseca has withdrawn from the 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals due to recovery from an injury sustained at the end of the 2025 ATP Tour season. We send our best wishes to Joao for a swift recovery and preparations for the 2026 ATP Tour.
Mark your calendars! The 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF are scheduled for December 17-21. Notable former champions include Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
