Daniil Medvedev recently shared his thoughts on Carlos Alcaraz’s Netflix documentary, “My Way,” and it was clear he wasn’t interested in the spotlight it offered.
“It’s cameras everywhere, all the time. That’s just not my style,” Medvedev remarked. “Whether I’m on the court or at a hotel, I’m always ready to engage with fans, signing autographs or taking pictures. But there’s a limit, especially when I’m with my family.”
Medvedev emphasizes the importance of maintaining boundaries between his career and personal life, especially now that he is a parent. He prefers to keep his private moments undisturbed.
He also expressed disinterest in the Netflix series “Break Point,” admitting, “I didn’t watch it and probably won’t because I’d just get frustrated. It doesn’t reflect real life.”
This is a topic Medvedev has pondered extensively. Known for his intriguing personality, he doesn’t shy away from controversy but prefers to keep the filming crew at bay for now.
“When I’m at dinner with family, I don’t sign autographs. Some think it’s okay to ask for pictures while I’m eating, but that’s a firm ‘no’ from me. I can be quite protective of my personal space,” he shared candidly.
The former World No. 1 feels that allowing a documentary crew into his life would be overwhelming.
“If I let them in, it would drive me insane. They want to capture everything—my family, my everyday life, asking intrusive questions,” he explained.
While Medvedev appreciates his fans, he is cautious not to let them infringe upon his family life.
“They want to know everything—who I’m dating, what I have for dinner, even how long my showers are! But you need to keep some aspects of your life private; otherwise, it feels like you lose your identity. That’s likely why a documentary isn’t in my future, though I never say never.”
