Hubert Hurkacz seeks to reclaim victory at the ATP Challenger 175 event in Cagliari this Sunday.
The former World No. 6 secured his spot in the Sardegna Open final on Saturday after a thrilling comeback against fourth-seed Roman Andres Burruchaga, finishing 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3.
After undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last July, Hurkacz arrived in Cagliari with a season record of 8-10 across all circuits. He notably triumphed over fan favorite Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-finals, revisiting their memorable 2021 Wimbledon semi-final. This marks his first final since finishing as runner-up at the ATP 250 in Geneva last year.
His competitor will be Matteo Arnaldi, who defeated fellow Italian Gianluca Cadenasso with an impressive score of 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinals.
“It was my fourth match in four days, and I haven’t played this much in a long time,” Arnaldi expressed in Italian after his match. “This tournament is giving me so much: matches, confidence, and rhythm. My footwork has improved throughout the week, and being back in a final means everything to me.”
Like Hurkacz, Arnaldi is also trying to regain his confidence after a challenging start to the season, registering a 2-8 match record. The 25-year-old has been hampered by a recurring right foot injury that has affected his training and match-play consistency, which he describes as “the toughest phase of my career.”

Tabilo and Bergs to Battle in Aix-en-Provence Final
Chilean Alejandro Tabilo continues his pursuit of a second trophy at Aix-en-Provence, having previously claimed the title in 2024. The second seed fought past American Ethan Quinn with scores of 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(2) to set up a final clash against third seed Zizou Bergs.
Bergs swiftly defeated Spanish qualifier Pol Martin Tiffon with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-4 to reach the championship match. The Belgian, currently ranked No. 39 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, could achieve a new career-high ranking with a victory at the Open Aix Provence Crédit Agricole. Bergs boasts a 2-0 record against Tabilo, including a four-set triumph at Roland Garros in 2024.
