Hubert Hurkacz kicks off the new season with a remarkable move.
The world-ranked No. 17 Hurkacz has joined forces with Wilson and is now wielding the Wilson Blade v9.
Pegula: Swiatek’s Journey Sparks Hope and Challenges
Hurkacz, who captured the title at the 2021 Miami Open, showcased his new racquet at the United Cup earlier this month, teaming with World No. 2 Iga Swiatek to propel Poland to the finals.
“Wilson is a legendary brand in Tennis, and it has been fantastic to explore their exceptional range of performance racquets that elite players trust,” Hurkacz stated. “After thorough testing, I’m eager to take my game to the next level with the Blade v9.”
It’s a transformative year for Hurkacz, previously ranked No. 6, as he embarks on this journey with new coaches Ivan Lendl and Nicolas Massu.
Hurkacz made the switch to the Wilson Blade to enhance the spin of his otherwise flat forehand.
With one of the sport’s most formidable serves and a powerful two-handed backhand, the 27-year-old was second only to Alexander Zverev in aces (736) last season and ranked fourth on the ATP for service game holds (88.71%), trailing just Zverev, Jannik Sinner, and Ben Shelton in that respect.
If Hurkacz can harness additional spin and velocity with his new Wilson Blade, he certainly possesses the talent to reclaim his spot in the Top 10.
“Wilson is dedicated to positively transforming the sport of Tennis at all levels. A pivotal aspect of this is collaborating with elite athletes to gain invaluable insights that will continue evolving the game,” expressed Jason Collins, Global General Manager of Wilson Racquet Sports. “We’re excited to welcome Hubi to the Wilson family, and we look forward to supporting his ongoing success on the Tour.”
