Gabriela Dabrowski from Ottawa and Brazil’s Luisa Stefani have surging into the women’s doubles final at Wimbledon, claiming victory with a score of 7-5, 6-3 against Japan’s Shuko Aoyama and Taiwan’s En-shuo Liang on Friday.
As the second-seeded duo, Dabrowski and Stefani have shown remarkable form, sailing through the tournament without dropping a single set on the prestigious grass courts.
The 13th-seeded pair of Aoyama and Liang initially put up a strong fight, maintaining parity until succumbing to a crucial break point in the closing game of the first set.
With a flawless performance, Dabrowski and Stefani didn’t face any break points, securing another pivotal break at 5-3 in the second set and ultimately capitalizing on their first match point when their opponents faltered.
Looking to claim their fourth title of the season, Dabrowski and Stefani are set to compete in their first Grand Slam final this year, following their semifinal exits at both the Australian Open and French Open.
They will go head-to-head against the 10th seeds, Hanyu Guo from China and France’s Kristina Mladenovic, in the final showdown on Sunday.
Fortunately for Stefani and Dabrowski, they will sidestep another encounter with the French Open champions, Katerina Siniakova of Czechia and Taylor Townsend from the USA, who were ousted by Guo and Mladenovic in the quarterfinals.
Siniakova and Townsend have had the upper hand against Dabrowski and Stefani this season, defeating them twice, including in the semifinals at Roland Garros.
For Dabrowski, this marks her third appearance in the women’s doubles final at Wimbledon, having previously been a runner-up in 2019 with Xu Yifan and again in 2024 alongside Erin Routliffe.
