Carlos Alcaraz had to sit out Madrid due to a right adductor injury. However, during his time in Rome, he has been spotted wearing a compression sleeve on that leg. On Thursday, he confidently announced to reporters that he is fully fit and ready to compete.

“I’m thrilled to be back in Rome. It’s my second time competing here, and I’m eagerly anticipating it. My practice sessions have gone well, and I feel fantastic. I’m 100 percent ready to kick off the tournament. I just can’t wait for tomorrow,” he shared with reporters at the iconic Foro Italico, gearing up for his second-round match against Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic.

Excitement for Jannik Sinner’s Return

Alcaraz is already envisioning a possible final showdown with his rival Jannik Sinner. The pair has dominated the recent Grand Slam landscape, each securing the last five titles. Fortunately, they are positioned in opposite halves of the tournament draw. Alcaraz expressed his happiness about Sinner’s return to action after a three-month suspension.

“Honestly, having him back is something I’m really excited about. The past three months must have felt like an eternity for him. What better way to return than here in Rome, his home turf?”

“It’s wonderful for both of us, as well as for the sport and the fans, to see him back in competition,” he added.

Sinner will kick off his campaign against Argentina’s Mariano Navone, aiming to become the first Italian to reach the final since 1978.

“We’re on different sides of the draw,” Alcaraz noted, enthusiastically stating, “I’m hopeful that we’ll meet in the final. But above all, I’m just really glad to see him and his team back. I’m looking forward to watching his matches. It’s a big win for the fans,”
