Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz have teamed up to clinch the Eisenhower Cup!
Their triumph in Palm Springs sets the stage for a potential reunion at the US Open mixed doubles, according to Fritz.
Speaking with the media at the BNP Paribas Open, Fritz praised Rybakina as the perfect teammate and expressed excitement about their prospects for the US Open.
“She played incredibly well last night—she did everything I could hope for from a mixed doubles partner,” Fritz shared with reporters in Indian Wells. “I think we complement each other nicely, so I invited her to join me for the US Open, and she’s interested.”
“She just needs to confirm with her team. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.”
If confirmed, former Wimbledon champion Rybakina and US Open finalist Fritz would be among the first high-profile duos to commit to the US Open mixed doubles event.
In a similar vein, Stefanos Tsitsipas has also announced plans to team up with his longtime girlfriend, Paula Badosa, for the 2025 US Open mixed doubles.
Last August, the couple celebrated a memorable evening winning the inaugural US Open Mixed Madness exhibition, which featured a star-studded lineup, including Naomi Osaka, Nick Kyrgios, Amanda Anisimova, Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff, and Ben Shelton, with a prize pool of $250,000 at stake.
In the 2024 US Open Mixed Doubles, the dynamic duo of Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori triumphed over Taylor Townsend and Donald Young to claim victory.
The USTA has announced significant revamps for the 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles format, with the entire event slated to occur during the qualifying week, preceding the main draw of the US Open.
Tsitsipas reiterated their commitment to the 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles, stating, “We’re definitely planning to play together. Paula is my go-to partner for mixed doubles; I can’t envision teaming up with anyone else.”
“She’s always the first person I consider to share the court with.”
