TURIN, Italy — Taylor Fritz kicked off his ATP Finals campaign with an impressive victory over late addition Lorenzo Musetti, securing a 6-3, 6-4 win on Monday.
Fritz made it to the finals of this prestigious tournament for the top eight players last year.
Musetti stepped in for Novak Djokovic, who had to withdraw due to a shoulder injury after defeating the Italian in the Athens final just days prior.
In the later match, defending champion Jannik Sinner faced off against Felix Auger-Aliassime, renewing the rivalry after Sinner triumphed over him in straight sets at the recent Paris Masters.
Sinner, alongside Carlos Alcaraz—who clinched his first match on Sunday—are still in the running for the coveted year-end No. 1 ranking.
