Frances Tiafoe and his coach, David Witt, have amicably decided to end their coaching relationship after an impressive year of collaboration on the ATP Tour. The announcement came via an Instagram post from Witt, who has a storied history of coaching top-tier athletes, including Jessica Pegula and Maria Sakkari.
The duo joined forces ahead of the 2024 North American hard-court series, quickly making waves with remarkable achievements: a semi-final appearance in Washington, D.C., a runner-up finish at the prestigious Cincinnati ATP Masters 1000, and an impactful semi-final showing at the US Open. However, after a challenging five-match losing streak in the 2025 season, which left Tiafoe at 26-23, they’ve chosen to part ways.
“Thanks, Big Foe, for an unforgettable journey over the past year and a half. Every chapter must close, but the memories and our friendship will last a lifetime,” Witt reflected on Instagram. “Much love, my brother.”

At the onset of their partnership, Tiafoe held the No. 29 spot in the PIF ATP Rankings, eventually climbing to a career-high World No. 11 by July. Key highlights of his 2025 season included strong performances that saw him reach the quarter-finals at Roland Garros and make it to the finals in Houston. Yet, after a fluctuating season, he finds himself back at World No. 29 as they conclude their collaboration.
In addition, Tiafoe has also ended his partnership with Jordi Arconada, a former Top 500 player who has supported him for the past five years. “After five wonderful years of hard work and great experiences, it’s time to turn the page,” Arconada expressed in his Instagram post. “I’m forever grateful for the experiences we’ve shared and incredibly proud of all we accomplished together. Excited for what lies ahead!”
