In an impressive display of talent, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime soared to No. 13 in the world rankings this Monday, thanks to his remarkable journey to the men’s singles semifinals at the US Open.
Auger-Aliassime, who celebrated a career-high ranking of No. 6 in 2022, made a significant leap of 14 positions and proudly stands as the highest-ranked Canadian male player.
At just 25 years old and hailing from Montreal, he reached the Grand Slam semifinals for the first time since the 2021 US Open.
During his impressive run, he triumphed over third seed Alexander Zverev, 15th seed Andrey Rublev, and eighth seed Alex de Minaur, before ultimately succumbing to then-world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in a thrilling four-set match.
On the other hand, tournament champion Carlos Alcaraz claimed the top ranking by besting Sinner in the final showdown.
From Richmond Hill, Ont., Denis Shapovalov moved up three spots to No. 26 after making it to the third round in New York, while Montreal’s Gabriel Diallo slipped two places to No. 35 following his second-round exit.
