Following an impressive performance at the US Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime faced a formidable challenge against the world’s top-ranked player.

The Canadian, who came in as the 25th seed, was defeated 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 by Italy’s No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner during the men’s semifinals on Friday.

Sinner is set to compete against Spain’s No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz in the final on Sunday, marking a showdown between two players who have captured the last seven Grand Slam titles.

Auger-Aliassime, achieving his best US Open result since 2021, is poised to ascend to No. 13 in the world rankings next week.
