What has been the highlight of your career?
At the close of 2022, I enjoyed an incredible 16-match win streak. Qualifying for Turin and clinching the Davis Cup during that span was something I’m especially proud of. Throughout my youth, I had promising results, but breaking through with consecutive wins like that was transformative. I was able to demonstrate to both myself and my opponents that I could win and then continue performing at a high level.

Securing three titles back-to-back and reaching the semi-finals in Paris-Bercy were monumental for me, and capping it all with the Davis Cup title was truly a defining moment.

What significant challenge have you faced in your career?
Arriving at a point of inconsistency can be tough. It’s not just about playing hard; the real challenge lies in deciphering why you’re not performing as desired. Working with my team to pinpoint areas for improvement—figuring out the ‘why’—has been the most difficult aspect for me.

Who stands out as your greatest rival?
Without a doubt, it’s Stefanos Tsitsipas. Our rivalry has been multi-faceted. While I’ve struggled to secure victories against players like Medvedev, my contests with Tsitsipas have been very competitive since our junior days, always pushing each other to be better.

What’s your favorite tennis rivalry, besides your own?
Nadal vs. Federer is legendary. Growing up, I was captivated by the matches between Novak and Andy. Their styles, marked by counter-punching and tactical battles, made for thrilling matches filled with intense rallies. Watching them in Grand Slams was always gripping.

Which tournament do you enjoy playing the most, and why?
For Grand Slams, Wimbledon stands out as the most prestigious and storied event. In the ATP Masters 1000 series, Monte-Carlo is enchanting. For ATP 500s, my pick would be Doha, which I consider one of the best, while for ATP 250s, Auckland is unique, being the only tournament in New Zealand—a truly special location in the world of tennis.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of being a tennis player?
Meeting my childhood idols has been the most thrilling experience. Traveling to various locations and encountering the likes of Roger, Rafa, Novak, and Andy—that’s truly one-of-a-kind.

What are your biggest goals moving forward?
I aim to capture a Masters 1000 title and a Grand Slam, as those represent the pinnacle of competitive achievement. While winning the Davis Cup and aiming for an Olympic medal have been significant milestones, winning one of these major titles remains at the forefront of my aspirations.
