The 25-year-old Montreal native clinched a fiercely contested first set by achieving the match’s first break in the final moments.
In the second set, Auger-Aliassime displayed his prowess, breaking serve in the second and fourth games to jump to a commanding 5-0 advantage.
After Kopriva managed to hold serve, Auger-Aliassime unleashed his eighth ace to kick off the concluding game, sealing the match in one hour and twenty-five minutes.
Up next for Auger-Aliassime is American lucky loser Aleksandar Kovacevic at the ATP 500 clay-court tournament.
