In a thrilling display, Gabriela Dabrowski from Ottawa and Brazil’s Luisa Stefani have reached their third Grand Slam women’s doubles semifinal this year, dominating Poland’s Katarzina Piter and Czechia’s Anna Siskova with a resounding 6-1, 6-2 victory on Wednesday at Wimbledon.
As the second seeds in this prestigious grass-court event, Dabrowski and Stefani have been on a formidable run, not surrendering a single set throughout the tournament. They’ve managed to restrict their opponents to two or fewer games in six out of the eight sets they’ve competed in thus far.
On Wednesday, their service game shone brightly, boasting a remarkable 78 percent win rate on total service points and, impressively, facing zero break points throughout the match.
The pair capitalized on their opportunities, breaking Piter and Siskova four times out of nine chances, concluding the match in just under an hour.
Next up for the dynamic duo is a clash against Japan’s Shuko Aoyama and Taiwan’s En-shuo Liang at the All England Club.
With three tournament titles under their belt this season, Dabrowski and Stefani are eager to secure their first Grand Slam final appearance. They previously faced setbacks against top-ranked Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend in the French Open semifinals and against Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic in the Australian Open final four.
