In an exciting matchup, Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe have progressed to the third round of the US Open!

The highly-favored third-seeded pair triumphed over the American Quinn Gleason and Brazil’s Ingrid Martins with a score of 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday in women’s doubles.

After a gripping first set, Dabrowski and Routliffe surged ahead with a 4-2 lead in the second, demonstrating resilience as their opponents attempted to narrow the gap from two games to one.

In the decisive third set, they took control effortlessly, establishing a commanding 4-0 lead and ultimately clinching victory when their rivals committed a backhand unforced error.

Throughout the two-hour and twenty-minute match, Dabrowski and Routliffe capitalized on three of their four break-point opportunities.

Next up, they will face the 13th-seeded duo of Cristina Bucsa from Spain and Nicole Melichar-Martinez from the U.S.
