LONDON — Two-time Wimbledon victor Carlos Alcaraz announced on Tuesday that he will be sidelined from next month’s prestigious grass-court Grand Slam due to an ongoing wrist injury.
Alcaraz sustained the wrist injury during the Barcelona Open last month and has already pulled out of the upcoming French Open, where he was the reigning champion for the past two years.
“My recovery is progressing well and I’m feeling a lot better,” Alcaraz shared on his social media platforms, “but unfortunately, I’m not yet fit to compete.”
He kicked off the year by clinching the Australian Open, making history as the youngest player to secure all four major titles in tennis.
Alcaraz triumphed at Wimbledon in both 2023 and 2024, defeating Novak Djokovic in thrilling finals. Last year, he faced off against Jannik Sinner, marking yet another chapter in what promises to be an epic rivalry.
“Wimbledon and the warm-up event at Queen’s Club are incredibly special to me, and I will deeply miss them,” Alcaraz expressed. “I’ll keep working hard to return as soon as possible!”
