Carlos Alcaraz has announced his withdrawal from Spain’s upcoming Davis Cup second-round qualifier against Denmark, set to take place in Valencia on 12-13 September, citing fatigue as the reason.
The 22-year-old sensation emerged victorious against fierce rival Jannik Sinner in the US Open final last Sunday, reclaiming the No. 1 spot in the PIF ATP Rankings for the first time since September 2023. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, Alcaraz holds an impressive 5-1 record in Davis Cup play since his debut in 2022.

In light of Alcaraz’s exit, Jaume Munar, Roberto Carballes Baena, and Pablo Carreno Busta will step in, alongside Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who has also withdrawn. The team will be led by captain David Ferrer.
Holger Rune will lead Denmark’s contingent, which includes Elmer Moeller, August Holmgren, Christian Sigsgaard, and Johannes Ingildsen.
